WHAT IS THE YOUTH FINANCIAL LITERACY PROGRAM?
ICAN’s Youth Financial Literacy is an 8-week educational program created by one of ICAN’s college student staff who realized that there was a lack of financial literacy in youth. The program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to manage their finances effectively and prepare for financial independence.

WHO WE SERVE
The Youth Financial Literacy program is open to High School and College students, aged 16+, who are interested in learning about personal finance and investing. Students take part in a multi-year mentorship/training program.
WHAT WE DO
Create a supportive environment for teens to learn financial literacy skills and connect with experts not available in their school. During the summer program, students take part in 4 in-person sessions on personal finance principles. Students also meet with a mentor on a monthly basis over Zoom to ensure successful outcomes and continuous communication. Upon completion, students also receive seed money to practice investing.
WHY IT MATTERS
The purpose of the program is to foster financially literate youth who are educated about budgeting, saving, and investing for future financial independence. The Youth Financial Literacy program ensures financial equity by providing equal financial education opportunities for low-income students to bridge the social justice gap.
