REPORTS TO: Program Manager

COMPENSATION: $23.00/hr to $27.00/hr depending on skills and experiences

JOB SUMMARY: 

We are looking for a bilingual and bicultural (Vietnamese and English) Program Coordinator to support ICAN’s Family & Community programs. You will be responsible for: 1) promoting and obtaining participants for ICAN’s programs and events; 2) develop and implement ICAN’s Youth and Young Adult Programs; and 3) to track and improve youth and young adult relations. Our YA Program team handles all types of programming from: 1) program planning; 2) implementation, 3) assessments; 4) evaluations; and 5) outreach. The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Program Manager and works alongside other staff in the Family Resource Center (FRC). 

  • ICAN was founded in 2000 by three refugees of the Vietnam War with the mission to lend a helping hand to the families, friends, neighbors and fellow countrymen whom they left behind. While still maintaining our commitment to our charitable projects in Vietnam, ICAN has evolved throughout the years into an organization that supports and strengthens the local Vietnamese community in the Bay Area. Our US-based programs include positive parenting workshops, baby care classes, and kindergarten readiness programs.     ICAN received the 2018 “Non-Profit of the Year” in recognition of our outstanding work serving the Vietnamese American community in the Bay Area.

    The mission of ICAN is to inform, engage, and inspire Vietnamese Americans to help raise the next generation of caring leaders through humanitarian programs, culturally responsive social programs, and community –based research.

  • 1) Program Planning and Development (75%):

    • Work with the Program Manager to organize, implement, and support a comprehensive strategic development program and to develop and execute these programs based on community needs.

    • Plan, design, implement and evaluate culturally responsive community education programs focusing on Family and Community development and engagement – including facilitating and/or coordinating workshops, forums, and other outreach/community events

    • Organize and/or participate in community, cultural, and outreach events organized by ICAN or by others (County of Santa Clara, City of San Jose, and other CBOs) to promote recognition of ICAN’s brand and its services.

    • Conduct evaluation to measure program’s impact and ensure that program meets the service delivery and outcomes approved by funders.

    • Maintain ongoing data collection, submit reports and documentation to funders on time.

    • Support management in developing strategic partnership with other agencies, identifying service gaps and advocating for unmet needs to the city, county, and other funders/stakeholders.

    • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Programs Manager.

    2) Social Media Marketing ad Outreach (15%):

    • Marketing Planning and Implementation:

      1. Design and implement social media strategies to help achieve program participation goals.

      2. Create and implement plans for social media outreach, monthly newsletters, and website updates.

      3. Edit video/audio for video content, create/edit slides/graphics for presentations.

    • Content Creation

      1. Design flyers for programs, events, etc. to post on platforms with consistent branding.

      2. Brainstorm and plan weekly contents and postings

      3. Create weekly content with consistent visuals/messaging.

      4. Update flyers and/or update/create respective Google registration forms.

    • Community Outreach:

      1. Conduct outreach efforts through various channels, including (but not limited to) social media, mass-mailing, flyer distributions, faith-based channels, community-based organizations, schools and ethnic media.  Network with other community-based organizations to do cross referrals for programs

      2. Organize or participate in community, cultural and outreach events organized by ICAN or by others to promote recognition of ICAN’s brand and its services 

      3. Support management in developing strategic partnership with other agencies, identifying service gaps and advocating for unmet needs to the city, county, and other funders/stakeholders.

      4. Drop-off flyers to schools (HS & Colleges), libraries, community centers, community partners, etc.

    • Perform other duties as assigned

    3) Fundraising (10%):

    • Assist in Program Development by creating and developing fundraising strategies and plans to achieve program sustainability.

    • Assist in Marketing Development by creating compelling fundraising materials that will reach diverse audiences.

    • Organize and execute fundraising events as needed to meet our Programs and Marketing Goals

    • Perform other duties assigned.

    • BA/BS degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Marketing or other related fields.  

    • Strong organizational skills: ability to plan, organize, prioritize and multi-task 

    • Candidate must have a willingness to learn and a growth mindset.  

    • Experienced in working with culturally diverse communities and families is a requirement.

    • Knowledge and proficiency of social media, internet, computer programs, (e.g., Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Canva, etc.) is a requirement.

    • Bilingual and bicultural in Vietnamese and English. Vietnamese and English speaker, with ability to read and write in Vietnamese and English.

    • Preferably, the candidate should be passionate and have commitment to building communities and promoting civic engagement.  

    • Experienced working in non-profit field and delivering Youth and Young Adult development learning programs, services and curricula is preferred.   

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite

    • Knowledge about positive discipline & early literacy

    • Cultural sensitivity

    • Proactive, take leadership

    • Can guide oneself with little supervision

    • Must be able to lift 25 pounds as the service is sometimes physical. For example, setting up for events which may require transporting or lifting equipment and materials, e.g., easels, flip charts, refreshments, brochures, chairs, tables, etc.

    • Must be able to report to service site on a regular and reliable basis, and able to travel between sites and to attend offsite events throughout the county, as appropriate

    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes evenings, weekends, and holiday hours, as appropriate, to coordinate and provide services and activities for families during non-traditional hours.

    LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS:

    • Must possess a valid California Driver’s license, reliable transportation and current auto insurance

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age

    • Clearance of fingerprint background check 

    • Must have valid TB screening

    • Salary commensurate with experience.
