WHAT IS LIGHT OF LOVE?

ICAN provides free cataract surgeries to poor elders in Vietnam so they can continue to be the foundation of love, guidance, and support for their family, especially their grandchildren.

WHO WE SERVED

The Light of Love campaign serves poor elders in Vietnam who are visually impaired due to cataracts. The project specifically targets those who lack the financial means to undergo cataract surgeries, aiming to restore their vision and improve their quality of life.

WHAT WE DID

The campaign provides free cataract surgeries to visually impaired elderly individuals in Vietnam. Established in 2012, the project, led by Dr. Tuan Nguyen and Ms. Quynh Mai, has grown to include over 200 donors, offering surgeries and fundraising through initiatives like hand-knitted scarves and hats.

WHY IT MATTERED

By restoring vision for elderly individuals, we enable them to continue being pillars of love, guidance, and family support. The initiative reflects compassion and shared blessings, and like fundraising efforts, community involvement underscores the positive collective impact on those in need.

OUR IMPACT

As of December 2020, the project has completed 109 missions, helping over 11,320 cataract patients in Vietnam regain their vision in the Central & Southern provinces of Vietnam.
