WHAT IS DIGITAL INCLUSION?
ICAN and San José are addressing the digital divide worsened by COVID-19 through the Digital Inclusion Partnership. This initiative will use an $18 million fund over 10 years to increase internet connectivity, device access, and digital literacy for about 100,000 unconnected residents.
WHO WE SERVE
This program provides 50,000 households in San José currently struggling to obtain universal device access with a device and universal internet connectivity. In addition to providing these services, it also aims to help them understand it well enough to improve their quality of life.
WHAT WE DO
The Digital Inclusion program provides households with 25 Mbps download 3 Mbps upload internet services and universal device access. The program ensures all residents have a working device, offering free refurbished devices or assistance in purchasing one. This initiative enhances digital skills and aids residents in enhanced communication, better access to health care services, and access to more jobs.
