ABOUT US

ICAN is a (501)(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2000 with the goal of engaging families to help children become successful and caring leaders in society. Our programs aim to help provide parents with the confidence and skills to be their own advocates.

Founded in 2000 by three Vietnamese refugees, ICAN’s mission from the start has always been to raise the next generation of caring, strong leaders.

Focusing on prevention and early intervention, we aim to raise community awareness and provide education on issues, especially ones considered controversial or taboo within the Asian-American community.

OUR MODEL

OUR VISION

Watch our introduction video:

To engage, inform, and inspire the next generation of caring leaders through humanitarian programs, culturally responsive social programs, and community-based research.

We strive to help children and youth realize their potential by building strong families and community support networks to provide them with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to succeed in life.

Our programs empower children and youth to become caring, responsible, and productive members of their families and communities. By spreading the spirit of “youth empowering youth,” they will pioneer the way to a brighter future.

OUR MISSION

To Engage.

ICAN proudly serves and celebrates the Vietnamese American community while welcoming all who wish to learn, connect, and grow together.

Rooted in Vietnamese culture and values, we nurture engagement from early childhood through adulthood: offering programs, outreach, and charitable initiatives that strengthen families, bridge cultures, and build a more connected, compassionate community for everyone.

To Inform.

Through extensive community outreach, ICAN bridges generations, connecting longtime Vietnamese Americans and newly arrived families alike through a shared understanding of cultural identity and the power of community engagement.

By hosting public events and forums, sharing timely community updates, and amplifying stories that matter, we create spaces where all voices are heard, cultural gaps are understood, and every member of our community feels informed, connected, and empowered.

To Inspire.

ICAN is committed to raising the next generation of compassionate, culturally proud leaders, inspiring Vietnamese American children and youth, alongside all young people in our community, to become active and progressive voices for lasting change.

Rooted in the strength of Vietnamese values and the richness of our shared community, our mission is to help every child and youth discover their fullest potential.

Through strong support networks, meaningful mentorship, and culturally affirming opportunities, we equip young people with the skills, confidence, and tools they need to thrive, not just for themselves, but for the families and communities they will one day lead.
