ICAN Make a Difference This program is led by a young member of ICAN, Jasmine Ta, to help provide needy children with a means to go to school without having to endure miles of walk under the scorching sun and tropical heat. In addition to helping children in Vietnam, this program aims to motivate Vietnamese American youth to participate in community service and reach out to help their less fortunate peers.
How it works:
- Pledge a $75 donation to ICAN to buy one bicycle for a needy child in Vietnam.
- Recruit your friends to help this good cause.
ICAN Film Initiative Spearheaded by Kevin Ta, a group of 8 young volunteers of ICAN (college students and young professionals) went to Vietnam in the summer of 2008 to capture on film the various projects supported by ICAN and the impact of ICAN’s work. The project also aims to introduce aspects of the real life, the culture and the people of Vietnam. The trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for members of the team and had brought many of them much closer to their Vietnamese roots.
They call themselves the ICANUCAN team to remind them and encourage others that together, everyone, especially youth, can make a difference in a child’s life.
