ICAN joined forces with Vietnamese American Cultural Foundation (VietACF) in celebrating the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival (Tet Trung Thu) with thousands of children and families. More...


Vietnamese Parent Appreciation Day
ICAN sponsored "Doa Hong Cho Ngay Vu Lan", a cultural event to celebrate Vietnamese Parent Appreciation Day and to honor the Vietnamese parents for their devotion to their children. The event was organized by LieuQuan Buddhist Cultural Center at Santa Clara Convention Center on August 22, 2004, with a goal to preserve Vietnamese tradition and cultural values while helping to strengthen family foundation and foster communications between parents and children.
Attending the event were hundreds of parents and children, and many community leaders such as Jose Esteves - Milpitas city Mayor; Bob Livengood - Council Member, City of Milpitas; Debbie Giordano - candidate for City Council, City of Milpitas; representative from the office of David Cortese, San Jose Council Member District 8; ect. Vesak Day - Le Phat Dan
Vesak DayICAN brought fun activities to hundreds of children and families at Le Phat Dan (Vesak) to celebrate the Birth of Lord Buddha – an annual celebration/community event organized by Lieu Quan Temple on May 22, 2004 at Andrew Hills High school (San Jose, California).

VA NGOs Conference
VA NGO conferenceICAN presented at The First Vietnamese American Non-Governmental Organizations, held in Asilomar, California from May 07-09, 2004. The conference gathered more than 100 individuals from different organizations. Click on following links for details on the conference.

Children's Fair
2004 Children's FaireICAN participated in the San Jose 's 16th Annual Children's Fair held at Discovery Meadow on April 17, 2004, providing a joyful day for the children with different activities. In spite of the scattered shower, children enjoyed exploring ICAN's booth with popular activities such as bubbles, the "Push and Pull" magnets, and the "Sink and Float" water plays.

Special thanks to our youth volunteers: 9 th graders Jasmine Ta, Alfie Ngo and Leena Berientez for organizing the bubble activities, and kindergarteners Khoi, Minh and Ben for manning the magnet and water centers.

PC Refurbishing Day
In April and May, ICAN team and volunteers have distributed hundreds of free PC and monitors to local non-profit organizations. The project was appreciated by many groups in the area. Click here to see pictures.


"Hat Cho Tuoi Tho 2" Fundraising Concert
More than one thousand people attended the two performances of ICAN’s annual fundraising concert “Hat Cho Tuoi Tho 2” held on Saturday February 14, 2004 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

TechTeens
The TechTeens program provides web design training to Vietnamese youth in the Bay area and encourages them to contribute their talents to the community by building websites for small local non-profit organizations. Email to info@ican2.org for more information.
