ICAN sponsored "Doa Hong Cho Ngay Vu Lan", a cultural event to celebrate Vietnamese Parent Appreciation Day and to honor the Vietnamese parents for their devotion to their children. The event was organized by LieuQuan Buddhist Cultural Center at Santa Clara Convention Center on August 22, 2004, with a goal to preserve Vietnamese tradition and cultural values while helping to strengthen family foundation and foster communications between parents and children.
Attending the event were hundreds of parents and children, and many community leaders such as Jose Esteves - Milpitas city Mayor; Bob Livengood - Council Member, City of Milpitas; Debbie Giordano - candidate for City Council, City of Milpitas; representative from the office of David Cortese, San Jose Council Member District 8; ect.
